BALLANTINE, John (1825-1891), 23 Ayr Road, Cumnock

Ballantine (active 1858-1891) advertised extensions to his studio in 1859 and in April 1861 an advert in the Ayr Advertiser was offering stereoviews of Drumlanrig and Lanfine.

We have not found Ballantine’s name or any blindstamp on any views, but we tentatively attribute views with the following small label to him, because there are many of his local region bearing this label, including views of the forementioned Drumlanrig and Lanfine (the only ones we have ever seen of the latter).
